Terms of Service

Acceptance
By using PromptLib you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Account
You sign in with Google. You are responsible for actions taken under your account. One person, one account.
Your content
You retain all rights to the prompts you create. By marking a prompt 'public' you grant PromptLib a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display and distribute that prompt within the service. Other users may fork (copy) your public prompts; the fork is independent of your original.
Public prompt licensing
When you publish a prompt you also choose a Creative Commons licence (CC BY 4.0, CC0 1.0, or CC BY-NC 4.0). This licence is granted by you, the author, to anyone who accesses the prompt — you keep the copyright; you are licensing the work, not transferring ownership. The chosen licence is shown next to the prompt and is embedded in the JSON file produced by the export feature, so third parties can see what they are allowed to do with it. Private prompts and prompts shared only inside a workspace carry no external licence; redistribution outside the service is not permitted under these terms unless you publish them publicly.
Licence to PromptLib
Separately from the Creative Commons licence that governs how other users may reuse your public prompts, you grant PromptLib itself a licence to operate and develop the service. The scope of this licence depends on the visibility you choose for each prompt. For PRIVATE prompts: a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence — limited strictly to hosting, storing, backing up, and displaying the prompt to you, the owner, so that the service can function. No commercial exploitation, no third-party sublicensing, no use as AI training data. For WORKSPACE prompts: the same scope as private, plus the right to display the prompt to other members of the workspace you have shared it with. For PUBLIC prompts: a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable licence to host, store, reproduce, cache, display, publicly perform, distribute, modify, adapt, translate, create derivative works from, and otherwise commercially exploit the prompt; to include it in curated collections or paid offerings; to sublicense it to third parties (including, without limitation, AI model providers for the purpose of training, fine-tuning, or evaluating machine learning models); and to use it in new features of the service, including AI-assisted features. This licence is non-exclusive: you keep the right to use, license, and exploit your own prompt elsewhere on whatever terms you choose. The licence for public prompts survives termination or deletion of your account, but only with respect to prompts that were public at the moment of deletion; prompts that were private or workspace-only at that moment will be deleted in accordance with our retention policy and the GDPR. PromptLib may assign or transfer this licence as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, or any other change of control, without further consent from you.
Your warranties
By submitting a prompt to PromptLib — and especially by making it public — you represent and warrant that you own the prompt or have all necessary rights, licences, consents, and permissions to grant the licences described above; that the prompt does not infringe any third party's copyright, trademark, trade secret, privacy, publicity, or other right; and that the prompt does not contain personal data of any third party who has not consented to its publication. If a claim is made against PromptLib because a prompt you submitted breached this warranty, you agree to indemnify and hold PromptLib harmless from the resulting losses, to the extent permitted by law.
Acceptable use
Do not publish prompts that are illegal, infringing, hateful, or that contain personal data of third parties without consent. We may remove prompts and accounts that violate these rules.
Service availability
PromptLib is provided 'as is' with no uptime or fitness-for-purpose guarantee. We may change or discontinue features at any time.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the past 12 months (currently zero — the service is free).
Governing law
These terms are governed by Swiss substantive law, to the exclusion of its conflict-of-laws rules and of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). The exclusive place of jurisdiction for any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms is the competent courts of the City of Zurich, Switzerland. Mandatory consumer protection rights granted to you by the law of your country of residence remain unaffected.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in-app.
